My name is A.J. and I am a 22 year old pastor in the inner city of Omaha, NE. We started a multi-ethnic church roughly about 4 years ago. We had no understanding of the 'how-to's' of birthing a multi-ethnic expression of Christ's church we only had a vision from God, 'they kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.' We knew from the starting gate that we have no choice of being mult-ethnic or not. Since then we have reached out to our predominate african-american community and have seen quite a response. Our lead pastor is white and his wife is black, I am latino and my wife is white and another pastor on staff with us is black and his fiance is white and currently he is on work-release and will 'officially' be released in August. Crazy huh? We are reaching out to the projects and seeing quite a response. This summer we have had 4 block parties (our other one will be in 3 weeks) and we have seen an average of 200 people show up to each party and 150 of them are from the community. At Bridge (the name of our church) we live by one motto, "Out of the seats and into the streets!"
