A couple of weeks ago I was privileged to participate in a gathering of leaders who are passionate about creating a movement of generosity in America's churches and communities. The event was hosted by Bob Buford, the founder and chairman of the board of Leadership Network, at Leadership Network's collaboration space in Dallas.
One of the most important outcomes of that gathering is a fresh call to prayer articulated by Patrick Johnson , Vice President of Strategic Partners and Church Services for The National Christian Foundation.
Here is a portion of an invitation to pray that Patrick issued last week.
“Recently I returned from a 24 hour experience in Dallas with giving champions and leaders from various ministries to reflect on the possibility of a “generosity movement” afoot in the U.S. One of the key takeaways for me during this time was that there is indeed a Kingdom movement happening, with stewardship and generosity woven through it. My second takeaway was that we need to be united in prayer for this generosity component, trusting God to steward it wisely through us – broken vessels.”
Patrick then requested that we pray "that God would give American Christians (including you and me) hearts to give generously while avoiding the pull of our consumer culture."
Many thanks to Patrick for this timely reminder. I am praying that prayer for myself and my family today and I would invite you to do the same.

Our family is and has been praying that individuals will use the things found in every day life and living for the harvest. That we, as Christ-followers, will realize it's not just about Sundays. God's kindness is alive and breathing every single day... every moment. It is just waiting for us to inhale and exhale.
