As i read this I could not help but feel that I was looking at our own faith but doing so standing on the outside looking in.

Julia, Have just read Quiting Church which has just hit the sheles in NZ. Thanks for this. After 41 years at the coal face so to speak I believe the Church is dull ,boring, largly missing the point, and no longer reaching those it should be . I am concerned about the consummer approach... what's in it for ME. I retire at the end of 08 . I doubt if I want to belong to a church of my denomination in the future. One may well establish a house church in my own street to meet local need.May I say at the church of 200plus I lead we are seeing members coming back . why ? Because they have found that their real friends are there. At the same time we are seeing some go because they feel they are getting nothing out of Sunday. Then we see youth out all hours Sat nights off to one church in the morning and another at night. When no one comes to faith for years and stays you have to question what is wrong.
