I have a special invitation for you today from my friend Chris Mavity at North Coast Church:
Weekend church-wide service projects are becoming increasingly popular and proving a powerful way to reach out to our local communities, showing God’s love with no strings attached. We invite you to join us for a special two-day workshop this fall that will give you a look behind the scenes as we explore the what, why and how of a successful weekend of service.
In 2007, North Coast Church mobilized 5,444 of our church members (over 100% of their weekly adult attendance) to complete over 90 service projects on 56 sites in our surrounding community. The total value of the work was well over $1,000,000 all completed in one weekend. Needless to say the community impact was significant.
The projects included everything from a couple of large-scale renovation and landscaping projects at local schools, to repairs at local community centers, homeless centers, neighborhood homes and much more.
The impact upon both our church and our community was amazing! Best of all – God looked better to a number of people who’d never attend our church under normal circumstances.
This year we are doing it again and we want to invite you to come and see it all with a behind-the-scenes look that’ll help you pull off your own version of a weekend of service. This event is by invitation only and will be kept small in order to make sure that you can see what you need to up-close and enjoy personal interaction with our ministry team.
We’ve learned that a weekend of service is completely scalable, so, no matter your church size the impact is worth the effort. At the workshop you’ll discover logistical basics, organizational principles along with which land mines to avoid and which rockets to ignite. You’ll be way a head of the game when it comes to implementing your version of helping the community around you.
On Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25 you can come and learn from our successes and the “dumb-taxes” we’ve already paid. In other words we’ll share what went well and what didn’t! After the event you’ll be able to see what happens when “The Church leaves the building”.
Our lead pastor, Larry Osborne will join you to explain the rationale behind our methods and strategy; and why it’s so important in our culture to “show before you tell”. Our frontline community service team members will join us to explain all the behind the scene nuts and bolts of a significant weekend of service.
Are you and your team interested in showing God’s love in some pretty amazing ways? If so, sign up now for this eye - opening event. We guarantee that it will help you better bridge the gap between your church and your community while at the same time strengthening your ministry team in some amazing ways! $99.00 per person; 3 person maximum per church. You can RSVP by contacting Tracy Webster at twebster@northcoastchurch.com or (760)724-6700 x240.
