Last week I blogged about the challenges Senior Pastors in their 40’s with churches of at least 2500 were facing. We also asked the same group to identify some of the biggest opportunities ahead of them and their church. Here are some of the things (not all) that excite them and are tugging at their hearts and minds as they look to the future.
1. The rising generation of leadership is asking to be mentored and trained. We have lots of younger leaders in our church and I am excited by this possibility, but what others are learning as they raise up the next group of church leaders?…
2. I’ve learned alot, had some successes and my share of failure. My experience has helped me gain some wisdom, and the successes we have been blessed with, have given me some influence in my city, in some of the countries we serve and even with some of my peers. How can I best leverage this experience and influence? Do we expand what we are doing?…also…
3. Could one of the ways that I leverage all of this that God has entrusted to me, be in writing a book? Is what I know (or think I know) really needed? Would anyone read a book if I wrote it? Who would publish it? How do I get it published?….and then, the almost unmentionable….
4. I still have alot of years of ministry ahead of me, but do I want to keep doing what I am doing? If so, how long? What’s next for me? This is both exciting and a bit daunting! Who can I talk with about this question?
What about you? Are you a Senior Pastor in your 40’s of a vibrant, growing church? Do these opportunities sound like anything you and your friends are looking towards? Are there others that excite you? Are there questions that you are asking that we need to be asking? We would love to hear from you and have a conversation with you. Interested in connecting with same life stage Senior Pastors? I would love to talk with you and hear your story.
